WSU men’s basketball loses leading scorer to transfer portal: report

21 March 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita State guard Colby Rogers, the Shockers leading scorer last season, has entered the transfer portal.

Rogers’ departure was reported by Tobias Bass of The Athletic. He is the second Shocker to enter the portal since it opened, joining guard Jalen Ricks, who entered on March 16.

The Covington, Georgia, native started all 34 games for the Shockers this past season. He averaged 16.4 points per game, which led the team. He also broke the single-season school record for three-pointers made with 99.

Prior to joining Wichita State, Rogers played at both Cal Poly (2019-2021) and Siena (2021-2022). He was forced to sit the 2022-2023 season because of NCAA rules against two-time transfers at the time.

It’s important to note that a return is not necessarily out of the question for Rogers. As easily as he entered the transfer portal, he can always withdraw his name and return to the program.
