WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita State University has awarded a Maize High School senior their 2024 Clay Barton Scholarship.
The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University and Maize High School staff surprised Faith Swart with the ceremonial scholarship check during a class last week.
“I was not expecting it at all,” Swart says in a news release from Wichita State. “Now that I’ve won it, I’m able to do so much more. This will open up opportunities like internships, a sorority, and clubs that I wouldn’t have had time for.”
At Maize, Swart participates in track and cross country, serves as president of the National Honor Society, and is a member of the Student Council and Student Ambassador organizations.
“We were so impressed with her communication skills and driven personality,” says Barton School Dean Dr. Larisa Genin. “I’m glad we were able to make a special moment even more special with our visit to Maize High. The Barton Scholars are some of our top students and alumni that come through our program, and I can’t wait to see what Faith accomplishes in her time with us and beyond.”
Swart will start classes at Wichita State University in the fall 2024 semester.
