Woman critically injured in Haysville house fire

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A woman is hurt following a fire in Haysville. It happened around 1 a.m. Monday in the 600 block S. Twin Pines St., near Broadway and 79th Street South.

The fire started in the basement and spread to the home’s first floor. A woman trapped in a garage called 911.

“Knowing that she was in the garage, we put a targeted search in the garage and we were able to rescue the victim out,” Battalion Chief Justin Moritz, Sedgwick County Fire Department, said.


Woman injured in Wichita officer-involved shooting; teen found dead

The woman was taken to the Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in critical condition. Two pets were also rescued from the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
