Woman charged in connection to Ft. Riley soldier death

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (KSNT) – A woman has been charged in connection to a shooting death that happened at Fort Riley.

Margaret E. Shafe, 30, of Fort Riley, is charged with murder in the second degree. The U.S. Attorney’s Office alleges she shot and killed Greg Shafe on Monday, Feb. 19.

According to a social media post from the 1st Infantry Division, a 1st Infantry Division Soldier was shot in his home on Monday. Shortly after the incident, a subject was apprehended. Federal authorities are taking the lead and actively investigating this incident.


Wichita woman killed; suspect arrested in Junction City

On Thursday, Shafe made her initial court appearance. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Army Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
