WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Forbes Home released “The Best Cities To Move To In 2024” in late March, and the City of Wichita ranks among the top.
Forbes Home “analyzed cities based on housing costs, cost of living, crime rates, air quality, quality of education, median income, employment rates, weather, entertainment establishments, average commute time and net migration to the city to determine which are the best cities to move to in 2024.”
Top five best cities to move to in 2024, according to Forbes Home are:
Omaha, Nebraska
Raleigh, North Carolina
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Wichita, Kansas
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Forbes Home has Wichita scoring 80.02 out of 100.
Wichita ranks as having the lowest median monthly housing cost, but it also ranks as having the highest crime rate out of Forbes Home’s overall top five cities.
“If affordability is top of mind for you, Wichita has the lowest median monthly housing cost out of our overall top five cities, at only $930, while still having a decent median family income of $60,856.,” said Forbes Home. “Unfortunately, the city does have the highest crime rate of our top five cities, but don’t let this deter you as it’s still overall fairly low, with only 44 out of 1,000 residents being impacted. Plus, there are so many ways to keep your home safe and secure.”
According to Forbes Home, the median monthly housing costs is $930, employment rates are 98%, the median family income is $60,856, the net migration to the city, from 2016 to 2020, is -163 and crime rates per 1,000 residents is 44.
Based on Wichita’s strong employment market, favorable climate and affordable housing options, Forbes Home found Wichita to be one of the most desirable cities to live and work in 2024.
Key take aways from the article is that Omaha, Nebraska, is the overall best city to move to in 2024, Virginia Beach, Virginia, is the best city to move to for quality of life, and Mesa, Arizona, is the best city to move to for desirability.
