Wichita Police Department trains using new Taser 10

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department is rolling out a new technology to add to their tool belt this week.

Training began Wednesday to introduce the new Taser 10.

The previous model was a two-shot unit. Each trigger required both darts to hit the target.

The new model is a 10-shot model.

“I have to put two of the 10 darts on target. So, if it’s a moving target, I have multiple shots to achieve that lock up by just getting two darts on them,” said Chris Nixon, a police instructor.

Nixon says they hope to train 80-90 officers this week. The department is looking to complete trainings in July.
