Rural area EMS departments in Kansas facing staffing shortage, potential closures

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department Motor Unit is hosting “Ride To Live,” a motorcycle training class.
The class will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Northeast Magnet High School, 5550 N. Lycee St.
Motor officers with the WPD will teach the class utilizing techniques and exercises “straight from the law enforcement motor schools.”
The WPD says, unlike traditional classroom lectures, “Ride To Live” is hands-on. Students won’t just sit and learn; they will actively apply what they learn.
“Imagine getting guidance from experienced professionals and mastering maneuvers that could save your life. That’s what Ride to Live is about – making you a safer and more confident rider,” said the WPD.
The class is free. Riders must have an M endorsement on their license, a minimum of one year riding experience and a motorcycle of 250 cc or higher.
