Wichita man gets nearly 27 years for murder of teenager

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man was in court on Wednesday, where he was sentenced to nearly 27 years in prison for the murder of Dante Devore, 18, in 2018.

Lascottric Yarbrough, 24, was sentenced to 323 months in prison, which equals out to 26 years and 11 months.

On Nov. 30, 2023, a jury found Yarbrough guilty of aggravated robbery, four counts of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.

The shooting happened on Feb. 11, 2018 in the 900 block of S. Pineridge St. Police at the time said Devore was one of several people at a house when four armed suspects knocked on the front door. A fight started, and Devore was shot and killed.

Yarbrough is the last of four people involved in the murder. One of the other suspects, J’Arim St. Louis, was sentenced in June 2022 to 25 years for his role in the incident.
