Wichita man gets life sentence for murdering girlfriend

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man was sentenced after he was found guilty of the murder of his girlfriend, Melinda Sprague, in 2019.

Ahmad Bey was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 50 years. He was found guilty of first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon on Feb. 2.

The murder happened in December 2019. A coworker of Sprague’s reported her missing on Christmas Eve after she did not arrive for work.

Two days later, on Dec. 26, police found Sprague’s body in the trunk of her vehicle in the 1500 block of E. Harry St.

Police said it was a domestic dispute which led to Bey murdering Sprague.
