Wichita-area Easter egg hunt takes different approach

31 March 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – An Easter egg hunt on Saturday took a different approach.

The Great Jurassic Egg Hunt at Field Station: Dinosaurs in Derby had kids finding different colored eggs rather than having racers go after them.

The eggs were hidden along trails at the park.

“We made this event so that it’s not a big rush, but that everyone can go at their own pace and everyone gets the same 10 eggs, and we kind of make sure it’s fair for everyone and safe for everyone,” said Tyler Treat, Field Station Dinosaurs expedition manager.

Treat said the response to the hunt was positive.

“Ours isn’t a mad dash rush where kids are going to be upset that they didn’t get as many or they aren’t getting shoved and pushed, and they can come any time during the day,” Treat added.
