WATCH: Topeka Zoo monkeys pick Kansas City Chiefs as Super Bowl 58 winner

8 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center Patas monkeys have predicted that the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl 58.

The zoo hosted the event on Thursday, Feb. 8 and “Emma,” one of the several Patas Monkeys at the Camp Cowabunga exhibit, chose the Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers.

“The reason we wanted the Patas Monkeys to do it this year is because the three adult females are actually from the San Francisco Zoo, so we thought it would be really funny to see who they’re going to pick… are they going to pick their hometown or are they going to pick their new adopted hometown?” said Shanna Simpson, the zoo’s animal curator.

“Emma was the first monkey to come out and she picked the Kansas City Chiefs box… sorry San Francisco, but here at the Topeka Zoo we think the Chiefs are going to win!” Simpson continued.

The Patas Monkeys came to Topeka in 2018. While the monkeys are not typically known for game day predictions, they are the fastest primate in the world, known for their running speed of 30 mph.
