LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Listeners in Lawrence have likely heard Nick Springer talking Jayhawk sports on the radio.
Springer, co-host of Rock Chalk Sports Talk, made the drive to the K-Nation studio on Sunday to talk about KU men’s basketball’s 1-1 week of competition.
As far as competing for the regular season Big 12 title, Springer thinks it has become a lot more difficult with how good the bulk of the conference has been.
“I think there are reasons to be concerned right now, this is tied for Bill Self’s worst start to conference play at KU at 4-3,” Springer said. “You’ve added a team like Houston, who is showing to be a really, really elite team.”
Kansas dropped a close road matchup at No. 23 Iowa State in a game where the Cyclones made a season-high 14 3-pointers. Springer isn’t too upset with the Jayhawks’ performance, saying it was more about Iowa State playing well rather than Kansas dropping the game.
“Overall, I didn’t think KU played that poorly against Iowa State,” Springer said. “Given how Iowa State was shooting the ball from three, that became very, very difficult.”
Springer also discusses what he’ll talk about on his radio show this week, parity of the Big 12, a tough schedule ahead and more.
