TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Ichabods went 1-1 on Saturday in Lee Arena.
Washburn men’s basketball beat Central Missouri 68-49, boosted by an 11-0 run to end the first half. Meanwhile, WU women’s basketball lost 69-56.
For the men, a 7-2 hole to start the game didn’t keep them from leading by 14 at halftime. The Mules drained three-pointer to start the second half but from there a comeback was far-fetched. Washburn opened up a lead as large as 30 in the win and led for nearly 35 minutes of the contest.
The ‘Bods saw four players score in double-figures, paced by Jarmell Johnson with 14. WU improves to 17-9 overall and 13-7 in the MIAA with the win, which was its second of the week.
Meanwhile, Washburn women’s basketball was tied after three quarters of play but was outscored 23-10 in the fourth quarter en route to a ninth loss in its last 10 games. Aubree Dewey continued to show her dynamic ability in the game, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
The Ichabod women’s team falls to 12-14 overall and 7-13 in conference play with the loss.
