Warm and breezy conditions lead to high fire danger through the weekend

29 February 2024

**RED FLAG WARNING** – In effect for the entire area today from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

By this afternoon, we’re already back in the middle 50s thanks to the return of a gusty south wind. Clouds will roll in by late Thursday with a passing system, but only a slight chance for a stray shower in the evening or Thursday night. High fire danger persists through the rest of this week and into the weekend with our windy, dry, and warm conditions.

By the weekend, highs will be back up in the middle to upper 70s, and we may even have a chance for thunderstorms by late Sunday evening! That slight chance for storms late Sunday and early Monday comes with another cold front, though. That does look to cool us back down for the first part of next week. Highs for Monday look to dip into the middle 50s before rebounding into the lower 60s Tuesday.

Looking ahead a bit, our weather pattern starts to get a bit more active by the middle of next week. So, while most of February has been very dry, we may have more opportunities for precipitation for the beginning of March.
