Two men killed in multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 50 in Lyon County

EMPORIA, Kan. (KSNT) – Two men were killed following a crash involving two semis and three SUVs in Lyon County.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 50 west of Emporia Wednesday around 6:15 p.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says an eastbound 2014 Kenworth semi went left of center and struck a westbound Subaru CrossTrek SUV. The Suburu rotated into the eastbound lane and was struck by another eastbound semi. The 2014 Kenworth semi continued eastbound over the center line and hit a Jeep Renegade and Ford Escape.


Sheriff claims corrections office lets drug users go free in Barton County

The driver of the Renegade, 29-year-old Ryan R. Miller of Independence, Missouri, and the driver of the Ford Escape, 32-year-old Jacob L. Suenram of Lawrence, were killed in the crash.

The driver and passenger in the Subaru were taken to an Emporia hospital for minor injuries. One semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an Emporia. The other wasn’t injured.

The highway was closed for several hours for the investigation. The KHP says all drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.
