Tumba Vacas to sport new caps, jerseys this season

12 March 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Tumba Vacas, Wichita Wind Surge’s team in the Copa de la Diversión, will be sporting new caps and jerseys in the 2024 season.

The Tumba Vacas logo will remain the same, but the caps and jersey will highlight the team’s colors in a new way.

“The team will take the field wearing bright fuchsia-colored jerseys, and the design of the jersey is inspired by the decorative Mexican ‘Talavera Pottery’ or ‘Otomi Texture,'” said Wichita Wind Surge. “The new cap will be black with a unique stitching look of neon green and fuchsia colors with a new secondary logo of a cow printed letters T and V.”

The Tumba Vacas will be playing four times this year, on May 24, June 27, July 2 and Aug. 15.

Each game will have free activities for kids, food specials, music, dancing and more.

“The Copa program began in 2018 as a way for Minor League Baseball to celebrate Hispanic baseball fans throughout the country,” said Wichita Wind Surge. “There are over 90 Minor League Baseball teams participating in the program in 2024, and the Wind Surge have participated since 2022.”

Wichita Wind Surge says “Tumba Vacas,” loosely translated to “Cow Tippers,” is a playful nod to the rich agricultural history in Wichita and celebrates local Hispanic and LatinX culture in Kansas.

The team’s former cap and jersey designs have not been retired and will be worn for one of the games this season.
