Travis Kelce teary-eyed at brother Jason Kelce’s retirement announcement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — It was an emotional day for the Kelce family.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce officially announced his retirement Monday after 13 seasons in the NFL.

“Let’s see how long this lasts,” said Kelce, wearing a sleeveless Eagles T-shirt, before he burst into tears and needed several moments to compose himself.

Kelce took 45 minutes to recount his career from his childhood in Ohio to his final days with the Eagles through tears, laughter and many thanks to his biggest influences before he finally announced he was retiring.

His wife Kylie, mother Donna, father Ed and brother Travis sat right in the front row, showing their support.

“It made me stronger, tougher, smarter and taught me the values of cooperation, loyalty, patience, and understanding,” Jason said of his brother’s support over the years.

Jason Kelce wasn’t the only one getting emotional at Monday’s announcement.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce could be seen shedding tears as well, even with his eyes hidden behind sunglasses in the auditorium.

After he thanked the city of Philadelphia one last time, Jason left the podium and gave his brother a hug.

The two made NFL history when they faced off in Super Bowl LVII, which the Chiefs won.

But even though they’ve been on opposing teams, Chiefs Kingdom has adopted Jason Kelce in a sense. During the playoffs, the Eagles center was often cheering on his brother.

He even attended the Chiefs’ playoff game in frigid Buffalo temperatures, ripped off his shirt and chugged beers as he sat in a suite with Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

Jason and Travis also cohost the “New Heights” podcast together each week, which has helped amplify the brothers’ celebrity status.
