Chiefs HC Andy Reid explains Travis Kelce push in Super Bowl

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is owning up to his actions in a sideline moment with Andy Reid.
The moment has been a big storyline since the moment he made contact with his head coach during Super Bowl LVIII.
Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce addressed the moment in this week’s episode of their podcast, New Heights.
“People are all over this, and I mean, I get it,” Travis said.
“You crossed a line. I think we can both agree on that,” Jason said.
“I can’t get that fired up to the point where I’m bumping coach, and it’s getting him off balance and stuff,” Travis responded. “When he stumbled, I was like, ‘Oh s—’ in my head.”
“Let’s be honest, the yelling in his face, too, is over the top. I think there are better ways to handle this, retrospectively,” Jason said.
The moment happened when the Chiefs were on the way to taking a lead over the San Francisco 49ers in the red zone — until a fumble from running back Isiah Pacheco led to the Niners recovering the ball and stopping the Chiefs’ momentum.
Travis expressed his love for Reid and explained where the moment came from in his mind.
“I just love playing for him. Unfortunately, sometimes my passion comes out where it looks like negativity, but I’m grateful that he knows it’s all my because I wanna win this thing,” Travis said.
In an interview after the game, Reid said they’re passionate players.
“Even if they chest bump me to the other side of the 50, I appreciate it. I just love that the guy wants to play and wants to be in there playing. And he knows I love that. So he makes me feel young.” Reid told reporters.
“He caught me off balance. I wasn’t watching,” Reid said.
Reid said Travis told him, “Just put me in, put me in. I’ll score!”
Travis was only targeted once in the first half with one catch. He ended the game leading the team with nine catches and 93 yards.
Now, Travis and the man he affectionately calls Big Red can celebrate their third Super Bowl win in five seasons.
