11 March 2024
TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Zoo is rolling out a new service for guests who are blind or visually impaired.
The tour will present facts about the animals through other senses such as touch smell or sound. Guests will be able to interact with these “biofacts” through a specialized cart provided by the Education Department.
The Kansas State School for the Blind will be providing training for the zoo staff.
If you’d like to request a tour you can contact the zoo’s Education Department by contacting Dennis Dinwiddie at [email protected] or at 785-368-9134. Reservations to attend the tour are required. Tickets are provided at no additional cost.
