Inmate charged with murder in deadly Shawnee County jail fight

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka man was hospitalized following a crash on I-70 in Shawnee County involving two semi-trucks.
The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reports that the crash happened at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 on eastbound I-70 near mile marker 187. A Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling down the highway when the driver experienced a medical incident.
The Jeep hit the back of Freightliner semi truck while a second Freightliner semi truck swerved to avoid the Jeep. This second semi truck went off the road, hitting two delineator posts which broke the airline on the semi’s trailer.
The driver of the Jeep, a 41-year-old man from Topeka, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The drivers of the two semi-trucks were uninjured.
