Topeka boutique selling custom Kansas City football gear

TOPEKA (KSNT) – One local clothing company is helping fans gear up for Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

The Kansas City Chiefs face the Baltimore Ravens up next in the NFL playoffs, so Topeka’s H&H Designs is selling custom, Kansas City-inspired merchandise. The woman-owned boutique puts its own spin on gear for some local high school, college and professional teams.

“We like patterns and swirly things and glitter and sparkles and all of that kind of stuff,” owner Samantha Hill said.

Hill said H&H Designs started out of her home several years ago, but after two years in the store’s location at Fairlawn Plaza, business is only growing.

They call it a ‘two minutes to a custom tee.’ Customers can just walk in store, pick from about 500 original designs and have their shirt pressed and ready to go almost immediately.

And with the Kansas City Chiefs on a deep playoff run, H&H’s KC-inspired gear has been flying off the shelves.

“500% over our typical daily sales,” Hill said of selling KC merchandise recently. “And we’ve had a 300% increase from last year. So, we’ve definitely been growing through the season.”

Hill says H&H has sold out a unique design of Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, three times already this week.

The key to their success is designing graphics themselves. Customers won’t see any copyrighted images on any of H&H’s products, they’ll just see a lot of unique, spirited designs in that team’s colors.

“People love the fun takes on a non-traditional style,” operations manager Cate Moody said. “So they can truly build their own types of style and have something that truly represents them.”

H&H Designs is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. You can also order their shirts online by clicking here.
