Topeka announced road projects for 2024

24 January 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka announced a list of Public Works projects it has planned for 2024.

As Topeka continues to work to improve its infrastructure, the city has announced Public Works projects that are slated for this year. Amanda Knowland with the City of Topeka said construction usually starts in March or April and goes until November, weather permitting. When able, the city’s Public Works and Utilities departments work together to complete these projects.

While most of the projects are mill and overlay with some full-depth patching, a few exceptions will be fixed with Ultrathin Bonded Asphalt Surface (UBAS), a thicker material than micro surfacing which does a better job of patching arterial roads, according to the city.
