Third grade Chiefs ‘superfan’ shares good luck routine before Super Bowl

1 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – One Topeka third grader is getting into the Super Bowl spirit, but being a die hard Kansas City Chiefs fan is nothing new for him.

Elliott Sourk, who’s a third grader at Whitson Elementary School, has been wearing some kind of Chiefs gear every day since December. It’s all part of being a superstitious fan.

He said he has seven different Chiefs shirts, one “for each day of the week.”

“Have this [Travis Kelce jersey], a [Isiah] Pacheco jersey,” Sourk said. “I have a Mickey Mouse one that’s under here, and I have one when we won the 2020 Super Bowl, and then I have just two red shirts.”

Sourk calls himself a super fan, mostly because of his Chiefs gear routine, but also because he watches the team play every single weekend. He told 27 News he also attended two games at Arrowhead Stadium during the regular season.

His seven-day rotation makes for just one weekly load of laundry, thankfully for mom. And, the reason he’s so committed to wearing some variation of red and yellow every day is to bring the team good luck.

Sourk told 27 News he and his family will be cheering loud and proud for the Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
