TOPEKA (KSNT) — The new owners of West Ridge Mall say they are bringing in a Texas-based company to help reimagine the mall’s future.
Tracey Stratton with Advisor’s Excel said in a press release that the mall’s new owners, Cody Foster and David Callanan, have selected Russell Glen Company, based out of Dallas, to help reimagine the mall. The company focuses on mixed-use spaces specializing in making community-minded experiences.
“Owning a mall and planning a renovation at this scale is a project that is new to Dave and me,” Foster said. “We knew enough that we needed a real estate development company like Russell Glen, which has an impeccable reputation and lots of experience in the retail space. After touring the Former Red Bird Mall project in Dallas, we saw the transformation Terrence is leading; that was it, we were sold.”
Stratton said in the press release Russell Glen is known for its vision and ability to create remarkable places. The company’s projects range from redevelopment of malls, mixed-use destinations, offices and institutional and master-planned communities.
“Our company is appreciative of the confidence that the leadership at Advisor Excel has in our team to redevelop this legacy project,” Russell Glenn Company CEO Terrence Maiden said in the press release. “West Ridge, when reimagined, will create a unique opportunity to attract destination retailers, entertainment, restaurants, offices, and more for Topeka. The next step is to hire an architectural firm to help us get our vision for West Ridge designed.”
The West Ridge Mall is currently undergoing some big changes in Topeka. New businesses recently moved into the mall, with more slated for the future. New tenants include Ta Co, Boxer Q BBQ, Absolute Tattoo, Luxe Wellness Clinic, Shockwave Fitness and AEA Jewelry.
