LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Terrence Shannon Jr. made his first appearance in front of a Kansas judge for rape allegations.
The case of Shannon v. State of Kansas is officially underway. Shannon came before a Douglas County judge and officials from the Douglas County District Attorney’s office via Zoom for his first appearance on Jan. 18. Shannon is being charged for an alleged rape at the Jayhawk Café Sept 9, 2023.
A Douglas County judge set Shannon’s preliminary hearing to take place Feb. 23, 2023.
Shannon is currently suspended from the University of Illinois basketball team in light of these allegations. He was in Lawrence attending the University of Illinois vs. University of Kansas football game Sept. 8, 2023. Douglas County prosecutors charged Shannon with rape or an alternative count of sexual battery on Dec. 5, 2023.
