We remain under the influence of high pressure today which will keep skies sunny and dry. This breaks down by tomorrow as a series of systems tracks through the region day by day beginning mid-week.
Tuesday will be very similar to how we started the week. The only difference is that we will switch out cool high temperatures for warmer ones.
The rest of the week will not be as warm as Tuesday but temps will still be near the norm at times. The unsettled conditions that are on the way will cause us to bounce back and forth between the 50s and 60s but the start of next week is looking even cooler.
Wednesday starts dry but a boundary sitting across the southern half of the area will cause showers and storms to begin to blossom by the afternoon. Storms around the Kansas/Oklahoma line and down into the Panhandle will need to be monitored.
The threat of an isolated strong to severe storm will mainly be to the south later in the afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats.
Storm strength around the state line should gradually wane through the night. There will still be some rain around the southern half of the area Thursday, especially in South Central Kansas.
Friday will be dry as we lose some cloud cover and gain a few degrees. The weekend will be active with showers and storms. As temperatures fall into early next week there could be a wintry component with this system to the north and west.
