WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Tanganyika Wildlife Park hosted a birthday party for its rhino MJ on Saturday.
The park made sure MJ got some special treats on his first birthday. They threw a party with trivia and art projects.
As fun as a birthday party is in and of itself, there was a bigger reason for them to celebrate.
“This species is actually listed as vulnerable,” Sierra Smith, Hoofstock keeper for Tanganyika, said. “There is less than 4,000 of them remaining, so it’s very important that we breed them so we can help the population then we can translate that to conserving them in their natural habitat.”
Smith describes MJ as a people love and smart.
Guests were able to feed him watermelon and take a picture.
