How Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce became the focus of baseless conspiracy theories

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — “Swag Surfin'” has been around since musical artists were finding beats on Myspace.
“We found a beat for “Swag Surfin’,” and eventually, we got in the studio, which wasn’t a real studio. It was more like a closet,” F.L.Y.’s Mook told FOX4.
But it’s been riding a huge wave of resurgence since just New Year’s Eve. That’s when the Chiefs’ Willie Gay requested the song that’s become more popular at Arrowhead the past couple of seasons be played.
“Go on, send a text message up and tell them to play “Swag Surfin’,” Gay said in a video posted by the Kansas City Chiefs.
“He sent it up the chain, he sent it up the chain, tell whoever you need to tell to play “Swag Surfin’,” we really need that right now,” Mook and iMcFli laughed as they spoke of Gay’s request.”
“Shout Out to Willie Gay,” said Easton, who collaborated with F.L.Y. to create “Swag Surfin'” in 2009.
Two weeks later, Taylor Swift and the rest of Chiefs Kingdom were celebrating a frigid playoff win over the Miami Dolphins, dancing to the song.
“F.L.Y. we want to say we appreciate she was having a good time, she was in her own zone doing her thing, and that’s the whole point of the song,” Vee, another F.L.Y. member, said.
It’s led to Senior Swifties in a Sedalia retirement home rocking out to the song in a viral video.
When the Chiefs won the AFC Championship, “Swag Surfin'” was the first sing they played at Power and Light. The group responded to a post of that video saying, “We Gone Get Em Right.”
So, since Chiefs Kingdom is sure to be “Swag Surfin'” Super Bowl Sunday, I wanted to know if there was a right way to Swag Surf.
“Just remember left to right, left to right, yeah,” Mook coached me.
F.L.Y. and Easton say it’s always better with a group of fans or friends at a party or dance club. Their final advice when it comes to “Swag Surfin?'”
“The only wrong way is to not participate, and you look crazy because the whole stadium is doing it beside you,” Vee said.
F.L.Y. and Easton actually performed at the San Francisco 49ers’ first playoff game earlier this month wearing 49ers uniforms. Asked who they are rooting for in the Super Bowl, they diplomatically answered, “The NFL.” The musical artists were also unable to say right now whether they might make an appearance at the Super Bowl or any festivities in Las Vegas leading up to the game.
