Manhattan parents arrested for murder of 1-year-old daughter

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Two men are facing charges in connection to two separate deadly shootings earlier this week in Lawrence.
Dawson Edward Paine21, was charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court with second-degree murder in the Tuesday night shooting death of 18-year-old Davin Gregory Kerr.
According to the Lawrence Police Department the suspect and victim knew each other.
Paine allegedly shot the victim in a neighborhood on Crestline Drive, near Crestline Circle, around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday and then left the area before officers arrived.
Paine was arrested in Topeka around noon Thursday. He had his first court appearance Friday afternoon.
Nicholas Beaver, 32, was charged Friday in Douglas County District Court with second-degree murder and battery in connection to the shooting death of 39-year-old Vincent Walker Wednesday evening in downtown Lawrence.
The shooting was reported around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday in the area of W. 8th Street and Vermont Street in downtown Lawrence.
Lawrence police took Beaver into custody just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. He made his first court appearance Friday and has a preliminary hearing has been set for March 12 at 10:30 a.m.
