‘Superfans’ from Topeka following Chiefs to Las Vegas

1 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Two life-long Kansas City Chiefs fans and friends are making their way to Las Vegas with the hopes of seeing the team beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Michael Wiseman has been Chiefs season ticket holder since he was a toddler. He said his and his family’s love for Chiefs football has only grown over the years.

“We’ve been through the thick and thin with the Chiefs,” Wiseman said. “You know, these last five years, six years, Mahomes-era, Travis Kelce-era. Andy Reid’s been pretty special. It’s been pretty exciting.

Wiseman even tricked out his basement with signed memorabilia that makes for a great atmosphere on game days. He said the last game day against the Baltimore Ravens was what every Chiefs fan wanted.

Wiseman said he turned to his friend, Thomas Joseph Lorson, when the Chiefs became AFC Champions, the rest was history.

“I wasn’t even planning on going until literally about fourth quarter,” Wiseman said. “I looked at him and I said, ‘Man, we should think about going.’ Next thing you know, we’re booking an Airbnb, we’re booking a flight, we’re booking a rental car.”

Many of Wiseman’s family and friends plan to travel to Las Vegas for the big game. He told 27 News season that ticket holders like him had the chance to enter into a lottery for a chance win Super Bowl tickets, but that’s not his plan.

“We have a ticket broker,” Wiseman said. “We kind of tell him what we’re looking for and our budget, and he goes and finds it for us. So the goal is hopefully we’ll get tickets once we get to Vegas.”

“If we end up getting tickets to go to the game and its nothing outrageous, I mean, you know never say never, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen, but we’re at least going to be down there enjoying the atmosphere and the activities going on,” Lorson.

Even if the group doesn’t get tickets, they say the trip will be worth it to be with all of those Chiefs fans.

“There’s so many Chiefs fans, and especially with the whole Taylor Swift frenzy we’re seeing a lot of new, creative Chiefs fans, which is a good thing,” Wiseman said.

“I’m pretty certain that this is going to be a good time,” Lorson said. “Looking back and taking a chance before you get really old and lame, you took a chance and went down to the Super Bowl.

Wiseman is no stranger to the Super Bowl. He and his family went to last year’s Super Bowl and Super Bowl LIV, which was another battle between the Chiefs and 49ers.
