WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — For this week’s Competitive Drive, we go out to the Air Capital Hoopfest.
The tournament is hosted by Sunrise Christian Academy and sees some of the best high school teams in the country fly into Wichita for a two-day tournament.
It also serves as a well-deserved break for a Sunrise team that generally takes multiple flights one to two times a week during the season to play in games across the entire country.
“Yeah, it’s been like a good adventure,” explained SCA junior guard Caleb Williams. “Like being able to stay here and sort of like, traveling and like, because traveling is like a big factor too, when we’re playing. So being able to stay here and have easy access to the gym is pretty cool.”
SCA head coach Kyle Lindsted believes this is a huge weekend for his team, but especially their fans.
“It’s a big event for us and our school and our program every year to have HoopFest here in Wichita these next two days, Thursday and Friday,” Lindsted said. “We’re hosting some of the best high school teams in the country. So excited to have them here. It’s part of our league and a great opportunity for our guys to have some home games against high-level competition.”
