Structurally deficient bridge over I-70 closed by KDOT

2 March 2024

COLYER, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation has closed a bridge over Interstate 70.

KDOT says the 150th Avenue bridge over I-70 east of Colyer Trego County is “structurally deficient” and has been closed. The department says the bridge has seen numerous strikes to its underside by vehicles too tall to safely pass underneath it.

The bridge has a maximum height clearance of 14 feet 9 inches. The average height of a semi-truck and trailer is 13.5 feet, but some trailers, like car hauler trailers, can exceed that height.

The Kansas Department of Transportation does not know when repairs can be made, and the bridge reopened.
