A crisp start to the workweek with lows Monday morning from the teens to the 20s. Temperatures have been cold enough and long enough to turn many of the blooms of our flowering trees brown soon.
An area of high pressure with polar intentions will track east over the next 24, erasing this cold and pushing temperatures above the norm once southerly winds take root by Tuesday.
Lows Monday night will not be nearly as cold.
Warmer winds on Tuesday push us back easily to the 60s and 70s.
A system from the west travels closer to us by Wednesday. At the same time, another cold front from the north will squeeze in, helping to steer the next rain chance Wednesday into Thursday across southern Kansas.
The slightest twitch of a more aggressive northerly push could take this even farther south by mid-week. The highest potential for a few stronger thunderstorms stays over Southwest Kansas. A storm or two could reach severe thresholds for Beaver and Harper counties in Oklahoma.
Another piece of energy by Friday keeps a rain and snow chance primarily over Northeast Kansas. Clouds overspread the area this weekend as a stronger system comes together.
Saturday will be the cooler of the two days. More moisture will meet this system Sunday and could spark a few stronger storms near and East of the Turnpike through Sunday evening.
Temperatures will be much cooler to kickoff next week behind this system, certainly not feeling like spring.
