19 February 2024
A weak and fast-moving disturbance is traveling through the region today. There is a slim chance it could squeeze out a sprinkle or two into Southeast Kansas through early evening. This will have little impact on our temps the next few days.
Something to note outside of our viewing area, a small sliver of northern California has an increased potential for severe weather AND tornadoes! Definitely not a part of the country you would expect for tornadoes and especially this far north this early in the year.
Springtime temps take hold this week. Highs in the 60s and 70s will be common through Wednesday.
A weak system will track through the region Wednesday night into Thursday. It has the potential to produce more in the moisture department of scattered rain showers.
Southeast Kansas into the Ozarks will have more juice and instability to work with to enable a few stronger thunderstorms capable of hail.
Temperatures detour slightly late this week, but remain above average. The warmth ramps back up over the weekend with highs in the 60s and some 70s by Sunday.
Winds increase the first half of next week to announce the next system on deck.
With warm temps, low relative humidity and gusty winds, fire danger will be high and much more widespread. Something to keep an eye on with less moisture around, dry vegetation and warming temperatures.
