After a full week of clouds and fog, we are turning the corner today. High pressure will build over the Central Plains today bringing a huge improvement in our weather. There may be a little fog early today in parts of southeast Kansas, otherwise sunshine will be abundant today with temperatures reaching well above normal. Highs this afternoon will be quite pleasant with highs in the 50s with a few low 60s in parts of South Central Kansas. This is well above our late January average highs in the lower to middle 40s.
Sunday night will be a quiet one with clear skies and just some patchy late-night fog in portions of central Kansas lasting into early Monday morning. It will turn rather chilly overnight with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s so you might have to scrape some ice off your car windows Monday morning.
Monday will be a great day to start the upcoming workweek with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures reaching the upper 50s and 60s.
We see temperatures continuing well above-average through the upcoming week. Highs will hover in the upper 50s and low 60s through Thursday with plenty of sunshine each day, a big change from the cloudy and foggy weather we dealt with all of last week. Be sure to get outside this week and enjoy our warm and sunny weather pattern.
High pressure will remain in control until a large storm system moving slowly through the western states moves close enough to bring some rain chances back by Friday, but especially Friday night and Saturday.
This will cool temperatures by a few degrees Friday with temperatures lowering back to average levels next weekend. If the moisture continues to stick around through next Sunday, enough cold air will filter in for any lingering rain to mix with or change to snow over western Kansas.
