5 February 2024
Gray and drizzly today with thick clouds overhead. The cloud cover kept temperatures cool and closer to the seasonal norm.
Showers will linger for the evening but will exit the state before midnight. Cloud cover will linger through the night.
Temperatures dip back into the 30s tonight with winds out of the northwest. Patchy fog will be possible as our atmosphere still has abundant moisture.
Sunnier skies take hold for the start of the week. Temperatures tomorrow will reach the 50s, with winds becoming southwesterly in the afternoon.
We stay dry for the first half of the week before an uptick in moisture arrives late Wednesday. We see another unsettled wave arrive next weekend.
A weak cold front will bring rain on Wednesday evening. Showers will quickly pass through the state, clearing out of western Kansas by the morning and central Kansas by Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures will not be deterred by much in the wake of the passing boundary. We go from the mid-60s midweek to the upper 50s as we start the weekend. Much colder air arrives by the end of the weekend as a strong system comes knocking on our door.
While we are still a week out, we have our eye on next Saturday and Sunday for the potential of snowfall mixing in with the rain. The track of this storm will need to be monitored closely as it could shift and bring primarily rain to the region. We will have the latest updates on this system throughout the week.
