Storm Track 3 Forecast: Rain tomorrow night, few isolated storms possible

5 March 2024

Northerly winds have driven temperatures lower than previous days, but we are still trending above average.

Overnight, temperatures cool to the 20s and 30s.

There will be areas of fog near the Turnpike and over southcentral/eastern Kansas that will develop later tonight through Wednesday morning.

There will also be a quick moving wave or disturbance capable of producing a few showers in western Kansas tonight.  Temps farther northwest may cool enough for a few snowflakes before this system wanes while it runs into drier air farther east.

We will have a mix of sun and clouds Wednesday with an uptick in cloud cover Wednesday night.

The next storm system will evolve and produce widespread showers and a few thunderstorms Wednesday night.

This lingers through Thursday and the system exits on Friday.

We will have some instability to work with closer to the Kansas/Oklahoma state line.  A stronger storm may produce small hail.

As temps cool farther northwest, rain will switch to snow from Thursday night into Friday morning.

Temperatures fall closer to average behind this system and attendant cold front.  Highs Saturday will be in the 40s and 50s.  We warm on Sunday and through much of next week.

The next cold front in line arrives by next Thursday with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
