Rain showers will spread through western Kansas this evening and track northeast closer to the Wichita area early tonight.
A few claps of thunder are possible. In any stronger storm, some small hail and brief gusty winds are possible into the overnight. A low-end severe weather threat has a better chance in Oklahoma and points South.
There will be heavy pockets of rain in these scattered showers for us. We will see a general uptick in moisture tonight and Saturday.
Lows tonight will be relatively mild in the 40s and 50s.
Rain continues off and on throughout the day on Saturday and into the following evening.
Highs Saturday stay a bit cooler thanks to the rain.
Rain tapers in intensity on Sunday but light rain showers hang around for most of the day.
Rainfall potential will be healthy with a widespread 1″ to 2″ with locally higher amounts possible.
The rain should exit before temps cool enough to produce snow on Sunday. With the added clouds and on/off rain, temps will dip but still be slightly above average for early February.
High pressure builds in early next week. This will allow clouds to break and temperatures to warm through next Wednesday.
Some warmth may remain next Thursday to the southeast before the front crosses the entire state. This will spark a few rain showers. Temperatures will also cool into the following weekend closer to the norm.
