Kicking off the St. Patrick’s Day weekend with mild temperatures and sunshine! A cool morning in the 40s and 30s gives way to afternoon highs in the 60s.
Clouds begin to build in from the south during the afternoon, which brings the slight chance of a few sprinkles into the overnight and early Sunday morning.
Low temperatures will be a bit chilly for Sunday morning, in the 20s and 30s.
Saint Patrick’s Day features a slightly cooler turn as a weak cold front sags through, bringing northerly winds. This will be drier air, though, so that should help to promote more sunshine.
Near or slightly below average temperatures to start the coming week, but then we jump into the 70s on Tuesday as south winds take over.
A blocking pattern (high pressure north of low pressure) in the upper atmosphere stays steady through the weekend, with a cutoff low over the desert southwest. This pattern begins to break down by midweek, with the low dislodging and moving east toward Kansas.
Shower and storm chances return for Wednesday and Thursday. There may be a few strong storms in the mix, but overall the severe threat with this system appears limited.
After that, we remain in an active pattern with another chance of moisture aligning around next Sunday or Monday. Spring is almost here, so we will be watching closely for any possibility of severe storms.
