18 February 2024
Light to moderate snow moved through southwest Kansas overnight. Some areas picked up over an inch of snow.
Moisture cleared out early, but chilly temperatures stuck around. Highs across the region reached into the 30s and 40s, well below average for this time of year.
High pressure is tracking to our south. This will help pull southerly flow into the region and help temperatures climb over the next several days.
Skies will stay clear overnight under high pressure. This will allow for temperatures to fall back into the 10s and 20s by tomorrow morning.
We will start to feel the influence of southwesterly winds by tomorrow afternoon. High temperatures climb into the 50s under sunny skies.
Temperatures continue to soar through the start of the week. We jump into the 60s by Monday and eventually flirt with the 70s by Wednesday. The midweek heat will result from air compressing and heating ahead of our next cold front.
The midweek boundary will try to squeeze out a few showers late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Temperatures will dip as winds out of the north filter into the region.
Highs stay above the norm behind the front. We quickly climb back into the 60s by next weekend and stay toasty into the following workweek.
