24 February 2024
Starting off the weekend with some morning chill, skies stay clear all day and allows for some picture perfect weather to build in by afternoon.
Highs in the upper 60s with clear skies and light winds. Make sure you spend some time outdoors this weekend! The only downside today will be a steady breeze from the west that will cause elevated fire danger into the afternoon.
Dropping to the 20s and 30s again tonight as skies stay clear and winds become light.
Continuing on the warming trend, Sunday might be even better outside with temperatures into the 70s, clear skies, and light winds all day.
It will start to feel a bit toasty outside for the first part of the coming week, highs rise to the upper 70s and may try to touch 80! This comes just ahead of a strong Kansas cold front.
Winds ahead of the front are expected to be quite strong, and that will lead to heightened fire danger especially on Tuesday. Winds may gust over 50 mph in southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle.
The front crashes through late in the day on Tuesday and brings a sharp cooldown into Wednesday. It may be sharp enough to bring a few snow showers to western and northern Kansas, but moisture will be lacking and only minor accumulations will be possible, with most staying dry.
The cold air will be short lived with warming temperatures resuming by week’s end. Temperatures rise to the 60s and 70s again by next weekend.
