Another damp, gloomy start to the day with fog and some patchy drizzle. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until noon today.
Fog dissipates around midday but we are left with more clouds for the afternoon. There may be a few peeks of sun late in the day but expect to stay gray again for most of Kansas. Temperatures will be a little warmer but still cool in the 40s and low 50s.
Overnight, cloud cover increases again in advance of our next storm system. Temperatures will not cool down very quickly due to the clouds and another round of overnight fog.
Lows will be in the 30s to upper 20s.
Beginning around sunrise tomorrow, showers begin to develop across portions of western Kansas on the north side of a low pressure center that will slide across the panhandles and into Oklahoma.
The latest data has shifted this system a bit farther south, which lowers rain chances for areas north of I-70 and may put the highest rain potential into Oklahoma instead of Kansas. Still, a healthy wave of rain will favor the southern half of the state tomorrow, with rain reaching Wichita in the afternoon.
Highs tomorrow turn a bit colder as the low turns winds out of the north, but we stay well above freezing statewide.
A few snowflakes may mix in especially out west, but impactful winter weather is not expected from this system.
After this low moves out, high pressure takes over and we settle in for a well-deserved stretch of sunnier, warmer days.
Highs reach well above average next week.
While we end January on a dry note, precipitation chances may start to increase once we get into February.
