The most recent cold front that came through the state over the last 24 will have only a small impact on today’s warm up by cutting a few degrees off the top.
Our beautiful stretch marches on and will get warmer on Wednesday and Thursday before a more active timeframe arrives for the weekend.
Tonight, temperatures will be cold under a starry sky.
We will forget any chill Wednesday afternoon as temperatures soar into the 60s. Temperatures will be cooler farther northeast, but most of the snowpack that has slowed the warming in this part of the state is just about gone.
The trend of 60-degree temps persists into Thursday. There is a quick moving disturbance Thursday that will bring in a few more clouds and a sprinkle cannot be ruled out farther east.
Better chances for moisture line-up beginning Friday. Scattered showers and a few rainy rumbles will form in the late afternoon into the evening. Do not be shocked if you hear a clap of thunder or two due to some instability to work with as this system ramps up.
The parent storm system inches closer Friday night through Saturday, increasing the number of folks receiving rain. If temps can cool enough in the overnights in western Kansas, then a few snowflakes may mix in although this system looks warm enough to support mainly rain.
Rain wraps up Sunday as the system departs.
Temperatures will take a detour back to average before climbing again briefly early next week. There is a stronger cold front pegged to move through the region at the end of next week. It does appear likely that we will cycle colder just before Valentine’s Day.
