Putting the sun in Sunday today, as it will be difficult to find a single cloud in Kansas all day long. High pressure is in control and the air is dry. Starting off cold, temperatures quickly begin to rebound as winds shift to the southwest.
Afternoon high temperatures will be mildly cool in the 50s across the state. Fine weather to get outside!
Some passing clouds tonight. associated with a weak disturbance as it skirts to the north. This will sneak a weak front into the area overnight, but this brings little else than a wind shift toward the northwest. Overnight temperatures stay chilly but not quite as cold as previous evenings.
Keeping skies mostly sunny to start the work week with temperatures continuing to increase. Warming to the 60s for Monday afternoon with a northwest wind that could get a little gusty at times.
The rest of the week continues to keep Kansas in a mostly dry pattern. High pressure stays in control high above, suppressing cloud cover and promoting the continued warming trend toward the 70s by midweek.
Another fast-moving disturbance races past on Thursday, but it will find little moisture and struggles to produce more than a few spritzes and sprinkles before it moves on.
We may be stuck in this warmer and drier pattern for quite some time. The jet stream is expected to remain flat (zonal) or in a ridging (high pressure) orientation for the coming week and even beyond into next week.
This will promote continued above normal warmth and keeps precipitation chances to a minimum. Enjoy the sunshine, there will be no shortage of it in the next seven days!
