TOPEKA (KSNT) – Hundreds of people took part in the first St. Patrick’s Day street party in St. Mary’s over the weekend.
Live bagpipes, games and food trucks gathered in St. Mary’s Main Street to help members of the community enjoy the holiday. Events were held throughout the day, serving as a great get-together opportunity for locals.
“It’s pretty awesome especially since we’re a small town and to see this many people out here is pretty cool,” said Ethan Gayner with Fryer Tuck’s food truck. “It’s a Catholic holiday obviously, and that’s why we want to keep it, St. Patrick’s Day. It’s great it’s on Sunday so we get to eat meat as many times as we want. We can break fast which is great.”
Event organizers say they hope to turn this into a new tradition for the St. Mary’s community.
