TOPEKA (KSNT) – A restaurant near Washburn University closes 16 years in the Capital City.

Henry T’s wrapped up it’s final night of service on Feb. 28. They will be open until 2:00p.m. Feb. 29 for lunch time. According to a post on social media, the restaurant is changing ownership, but the staff will remain in place.

A Henry T’s manager confirmed for 27 News that the owner of Thunderbirds and Vikings Grille is taking over, and renaming it Ichabods Grille.

Hire Taylor, a longtime employee, said she’s a little sad but excited for the much needed change. She said she hopes people will give the soon-to-be ‘Ichabod Grille’ a chance.

“Henry T’s Lawrence, Henry T’s Topeka, I’ve worked at both,” Taylor said. “I just want everyone to check us back out. We’re going to have the same great service and hopefully the same great food.”

The sports bar will be completely closed March 1 to begin renovating, and management says the staff likely be back open after a few weeks.
