TOPEKA (KSNT) – A driver was handed a big fine in Topeka last week for going 55 mph over the speed limit.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office (SNSO) posted to social media Monday that one of its deputies stopped a Ford Focus around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, March 22 in the 3500 block of SW Wanamaker Road between SW 29th Street and SW 37th Street. The driver was ticketed for going 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The sheriff’s office handed the driver a $678 fine for the speeding violation. The SNSO says driving at this speed can bring “extreme danger.”
“Slow down! Speeding, especially at that speed, puts everyone’s lives at risk. Slow down and pay attention!”
