Slick spots possible early in the week

22 January 2024

Our latest round of wintry weather is on the way out early this morning but we will still need to watch out for some slick spots due to recent freezing drizzle and freezing rain.

This is why a Winter Weather Advisory will remain in effect until noon today. Mostly cloudy skies could still lead to some drizzle and/or mist into the early afternoon.

High temperatures will be able to get above freezing but it will still be a chilly and breezy day under mostly cloudy skies.

Another surge of moisture moves in later this afternoon and into the evening. Most of this will be in the form of rain since temperatures will be above freezing during this time.

However, as temperatures drop during the evening we will need to watch out for another bout of freezing rain and freezing drizzle, especially between Central and Eastern Kansas.

This will be the story over the next few days. There will be occasional surges of moisture. During evening, overnight, and early morning hours is when we will need to continue to monitor the potential for slick conditions.

More winter weather alerts are not out of the question as more moisture moves in during the middle of the week. This will include a better chance for Western Kansas.

The latter half of the week is not looking as active and temperatures will be near the norm.
