WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Shockers took game two of a three-game series with an emphatic shutout win over the Little Rock Trojans on Saturday, 14-0.
Daniel Zang pitched six innings, giving up only three hits while striking out eight in the contest. Nate Adler took over for him in the seventh inning and gave up one hit while striking out two.
Infielder Camden Johnson went 4-of-6 from the plate with five RBI. As a team, the Shockers hit 18 base hits in 45 plate appearances.
Unlike Friday’s game, it took a little bit to get the scoring going. Both teams were scoreless through the first two innings before Wichita State plated two in the third.
They added another two in the sixth inning before bringing in six in the seventh inning, putting the game well out of reach in the eighth and nine innings by adding two runs in each of the final two frames.
The Shockers will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m. Following that game, the team will head to Jacksonville, Florida to play in a three-game tournament against Virginia (Feb. 23), Auburn (Feb. 24) and Iowa (Feb. 25).
