Sheriff’s office announces passing of detention service dog Turbo

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that Turbo, a detention police service dog, had passed away.

“It is with a heavy heart, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of Police Service Dog Turbo. PSD Turbo was diagnosed with a fast-moving and terminal form of cancer.”

Turbo joined the sheriff’s office in 2018 and was a “vital contributor to detention operations,” according to the release. “PSD Turbo played a key role in the elimination of contraband from the detention facility.

The sheriff’s office says that Turbo passed away peacefully with his handler and several other co-workers by his side Friday morning.
